Privacy policy

Planespotting.photos is a personal web site run by Erik H. Bakke in Sydney, Australia. This page explains what information is collected when you visit it, and why.

What this site records

There are no user accounts, forms or comments on this site, and the site itself does not set any cookies.

Views and likes. When you open a photo or click "Like", the site records which photo it was, the time, and a one-way hash of your IP address. The hash is made with a secret value, so it cannot be turned back into your IP address, and it is only used to avoid counting the same view or like more than once within 15 minutes. Your IP address itself is not stored, and nothing else about you or your browser is recorded. These records are cleared out from time to time.

Web server logs. Like almost every web server, this one keeps a standard log of the requests it receives: the IP address, the time, the page requested, the page you came from and your browser's User-Agent string. The logs are only used to keep the site running and secure, are not shared with anyone, and are deleted automatically after a limited time.

Advertising

This site shows ads from Google AdSense to help cover the hosting costs. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show and measure ads, including ads based on your earlier visits to this and other web sites. Google explains how it uses this information in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services, and you can turn off personalised ads in My Ad Center.

Other services

Some of the scripts and stylesheets this site uses are loaded from cdnjs, a public content delivery network run by Cloudflare. As with any web request, Cloudflare receives your IP address when your browser fetches them. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for how it handles that.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new "last updated" date.
